PRESCHOOL TEACHER (full or part-time position)

About: Our Lady of Bethlehem School and Childcare is hiring a Preschool Teacher (with part-time hours) or a Hybrid Preschool/Childcare Teacher (full-time hours). This position requires availability during the week, Monday through Friday, with flexible hours. Shift times may vary.
Definition: A Preschool classroom teacher is defined as any faculty at Our Lady of Bethlehem School and Childcare that teaches one of the following
– Totally Terrific Twos (Tuesday/Thursday mornings from 8:45 am-11:15am )
– Preschool (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday mornings from 8:45 am-11:15 am)
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead and guide students based on the doctrines and teachings of the Catholic faith.
  • Serve as a role model to students by practicing Catholic teaching while in the classroom.
  • Create and maintain a safe, positive classroom environment.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate instruction based on the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards and the Diocesan Course of Study.
  • Follow the curriculum and instruction guides set forth by Our Lady of Bethlehem School and Childcare.
  • Differentiate lesson plans and content to meet the learning needs of all students.
  • Offer a variety of instructional methods.
  • Communicate necessary information with parents on an as needed basis.
  • Use OLB’s SIS or LMSto connect and communicate with families and colleagues.
  • Complete progress reports bi-annually (January, May) for Totally Terrific Twos and Preschool.
  • Hold conferences with parents as outlined in the OLB handbook.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain guidance in the classroom as outlined by Our Lady of Bethlehem’s Guidance, Behavior Management and Discipline policies.
  • Conduct both formative and summative assessments with students to evaluate development and needs.
  • Attend and participate in school wide professional development days.
  • Collaborate with teachers in grade bands to develop and follow best practices for classroom instruction

 

INFANT AND TODDLER TEACHER  (full time position)

About: Our Lady of Bethlehem is hiring for a full time position in our Infant and Toddler Program. This position requires availability during the week, Monday through Friday, with flexible hours. Shift times may vary. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing exceptional care and supervision for children, while maintaining appropriate group ratios
  • Collaborating with co-teacher and other staff in the building
  • Providing social and emotional guidance and support for children
  • Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and activities 
  • Completing additional daily operational tasks, such as cleaning and sanitizing

Requirements: Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma.

    • Previous experience with infants and toddlers is highly preferred. 
    • Candidates must complete satisfactory FBI and BCI background checks and must participate in a VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training safe environment seminar.
    • Candidates must be enthusiastic, passionate, charismatic and nurturing

 

CLASSROOM AIDE (full-time position)

About: Our Lady of Bethlehem School and Childcare is hiring a Classroom Aide. This position requires availability during the week, Monday through Friday, with flexible hours. Shift times may vary.
Definition: Classroom aide is defined as any faculty at Our Lady of Bethlehem School and Childcare that assists in one of the following classrooms
– Totally Terrific Twos (Tuesday/Thursday mornings from 8:45 am-11:15am)
– Preschool (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday mornings from 8:45 am-11:15 am)
– Pre-Kindergarten (AM Pre-K: Monday-Thursday 8:45 am-11:15 am; PM Pre-k Monday-Friday 12:30 pm-3:00 pm)
– Kindergarten (Half day K or Full day K, Monday through Friday)
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Covering student ratios
  • Assisting classroom teacher with individual and group work
  • Lead small group lessons
  • Help to grade assignments (when applicable)
  • Assisting with student jobs, attendance, and lunches
  • Supervise students outside of classroom; during recess, bathroom breaks, lunch times, class field trips, specials including Spanish, Physical Education, Art, Music, Library and Technology
  • Basic cleaning and organization of classroom
  • Preparation of classroom materials including making copies, laminating materials, etc.
  • Collaborate with teacher to reinforce lessons
  • Assist with classroom décor

 

FLOAT/CLOSING TEACHER  (full-time OR part time position)

  • About:  OLB is looking to fill a full OR part-time position as a float teacher. This position requires availability during the week, Monday through Friday. Part-time hours accepted are any hours from 12:00-6:00pm with a minimum of 3:00-6:00pm daily.
  • Definition: The Float/Closing Teacher is defined as someone who moves around various classrooms, cover teacher breaks as needed, cleaning of student space(s), helping with crafts, snack, student pick up etc.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Previous experience with young children is highly preferred but not required, however we are looking for candidates that have charisma, enthusiasm and a passion to educate these young children that they are to become successful and independent people.

 

SUMMER PROGRAM TEACHER  (full-time OR part time position)

  • About: Become a Summer Program teacher that gets you out with children, nature, activities and more! Join OLB this summer for some fun in the sun! We are looking for candidates that have charisma, enthusiasm and a passion to educate children as young as 3 years through grade 6. Candidates should have experience related to childcare or have experience with being in a summer program. Candidates should also have experience with these age groups, but it is not required. The position is preferred to be filled with full-time employment but we are willing to work with part-time candidates. The positions both full or part-time would consist working during the week, Monday-Friday, typically from 8am-5pm, however candidates should expect to open at least 1 day a week at 6:45am and to close at least 1 day a week at 6:00pm.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Care for the students in your group, monitoring of activity and group ratio, assisting in the design of lesson plans that go with the week or month theme, daily cleaning, helping with crafts, help with restroom breaks, indoor and outdoor activities such as recess, assisting children during lunch, assisting with nap and teacher breaks and more.

 

All paid staff must have on file both BCI and FBI background checks and must attend “Protecting God’s Children”. 

All volunteers must have on file a BCI background check (and FBI if haven’t lived in Ohio for 5 years), and must attend “Protecting God’s Children” no matter how much or how little contact they have with children or youth, and no matter what time of the day or night they volunteer.
