Philanthropic – Service Events

FEBRUARY, 2020 – Mass at Our Lady of Bethlehem School and Childcare (OLB) was extra special on February 12, 2020. Students and staff presented Father Gwinner of St. Paul’s in Westerville, who also celebrates Mass at OLB, with a check for $250 raised from the students’ Chick-fil-A day fundraiser as part of “Celebrating Vocations” during Catholic Schools Week. “I am so grateful. No one has ever done this for me,” Father Gwinner said as he accepted the check. The donation will support a family for an entire year in his “Impact” mission which is part of the international non-profit, Unbound.

NOVEMBER, 2019 – Our Lady of Bethlehem School and Childcare (OLB) participated with Bottoms Up Diaper Drive as their fall service project. Bottoms Up Diaper Drive collects and distributes diapers and wipes for families in need in Central Ohio and is partnered with 25 food pantries and childcare centers. The basic need for diapers is a circumstance that OLB’s young students and families can relate to. In a combined effort, OLB is able to make a difference by collecting 4,561 diapers! Even the smallest students can make a big impact.

APRIL, 2017 – Students at Our Lady of Bethlehem School and Childcare, Columbus, prepared their hearts and minds for Christ’s selfless gift of love this Lenten season by providing Easter baskets for The Run the Race Club (brianmuhafoundation.org).

Students, families and staff collected baskets, pails, Peeps, jelly beans, granola bars, plastic eggs and bagged chocolate candy and then assembled 150 Easter baskets for Run the Race members in grades K-12.  Students created crosses to include in the baskets and further spread God’s message of hope.  The OLB community also held two Lenten Lunches with over $150 in proceeds benefiting The Run the Race Club.

Easter baskets were finished and delivered to the Racers on Monday 4/10 just in time for Holy Week and the celebration of Easter!
